Imagine the terror and thrill of playing baseball blindfolded.
That's what the competitors of The Long Island Bombers are
doing each time they step up to the plate. While playing the game is their
motivation, education and awareness of the surrounding communities is their
true goal. At clinics and demonstrations, fans learn first hand that
although players cannot "see", the competition is not any less exciting. The
ability to succeed lies within all of us, no matter what the obstacles may
be.

Alex Barrera #13
Alex has been a player on the LI Bombers team for four years. His strength and switch-hitting abilities are a real asset for the team.
Alex is a lifelong resident of Bay Shore on Long Island.

Steve is one of the co-founders and is a former Freeport resident who now lives and contributes to the LIBombers from Rochester, Minnesota.
Stephen works at Independent Living Aids
Stephen has played Beep Baseball since 1989. He also serves as the Secretary for the National Beep Baseball Association

Ted is one of the Co-founders and current Executive Director of the Long
Island Bombers. Ted is a Rockville Centre resident and owner of Entertainment Unlimited
This is Ted's fourteenth year playing Beep
baseball.

Matthew Puvogel is a resident of Seaford, and has been with the Bombers for six years.
Matthew is a graduate from Adelphi University and currently works for the Mayor's Office for People with Disabilities.

James Hughes
#16
One of the original members of the Bombers, James is the current Captain of the
team.
James has been playing Beep baseball on various teams since 1991.
James is the proud husband and father to Diana, Sara and Joseph.
James is a Farmingdale resident and teaches A.P. American History and
Government in the Farmingdale school district.

All Star Defensive Team in the 2003 Columbus Ohio Viper Classic

National Teacher award!
James C. Hughes has been awarded a National Teachers award, and will
be presented the Freeda J Riley Award in early May. To read the

Braulio Thorne, #23
Braulio is a resident of New York City and is in his eleventh year with
the Bombers. Braulio is a self-employed entrepreneur an accomplished
musician.

Nick is 32 years old and this is Nick's 7th year with the Bombers. Nick lives on City Island in the Bronx with his wife Michelle. Nick and michelle will be celebrating their 2nd wedding anniversary on July 18, 2011.
Nick teaches 12th grade English and Creative Writing at the High School for Teaching and the Professions at the Walton Campus in the Bronx. He plays guitar, reads and writes extensively, and is slowly putting together his memoir about his life from the beginning of his vision loss in 1997 through his college graduation in 2003.

Joe Dejesus
Joe is a 17 year old high school student who is a resident of Elmont. 2011 is Joe's second year as a Bomber.
Joe found out about the Bombers while attending Camp Abilities at Adelphi and has practiced with them since.

Christopher Dejesus
Chris is a resident of Elmont and is a new recruit for the Long Island Bombers. This will be Chris’ first full season with the Bombers after being introduced to the team by his brother Joseph.
Chris is currently studying Psychology with a Pre-Med Advisory and works in Camp Helen Keller as a camp counselor.

Meghan fink
This is Meghan's rookie season with the Long island Bombers. Meghan is a fifteen year old tenth grader from Seaford New York.
Meghan found out about the LIBombers through Camp Abilities at Adelphyi University, and when the Bombers held a demonstration of Beep Ball.
Meghan also dances at the Marianne Anderson school of Dance and also sings and acts at the Cultural Playhouse in Plainview.
